Now Is

Moving on.
It's a new day.
Remembering yesterday,
dreaming of tomorrow, numb in today.

Wondering why I didn't
hold them longer.
Tell them I loved them one more time,
feed their starved hunger.

Wounded from the days war.
Feet blistered because I've
come so far.
Gilead's balm drips from my face,
tears fall from my chin, because
of the heated pace.

Digital memories capture moments of
laughter and times when Ive cried.
Hours spent wishing away today,
weary of boredom, stained with torment.

I see sunrise, a marble
dove perched.
So many frowns and angry faces, leave
cold divided churches.
They thirst standing by a river,
waiting on a fortune, something that can't give life.
Putting stock in that which can't deliver.

In the smile of an infant, laughter of a lover,
limp of an elder, sigh at a grave.
In all these there's love, passion, mercy and hope
that one day we'll all be raised.

So today is yesterday's will be and tomorrow's
not yet arrived.
What I have, what is life...what I do now.

Now is

Last Egg

I couldn't do it. I couldn't leave without it.
I had to fix her egg.

I wonder what she'll do,
I think I hear her praying
Loneliness keeps her company,
Will hunger cry and beg?

So many miles traveled , whole lot of days lived,
last minutes of the last act.
Hitching up the chariots, angels wait
for orders to go fetch her.

Butter splatters, toast is jumping
The egg is done cooking
Tears rush down into the skillet
My heart aches and all I can do is cry...

"Granny your egg is ready!!"

"Son, you used too much salt..."
