Oh say can you see
All the things done in our life
From the fires of Selma,to the lady
on the front of the bus
One told of a dream he had
in Washington DC
How I walked school halls
in separation and,
Then I moved into the blending
Oh say do you see.
From the huts of Jamestown to the bunkers of Koresh
many have given their lives in their quest to be free
But , we keep on growing by leaps and bounds
But, to keep raising the bar is always a need
I've watched as aircraft fall from the sky,
towers crumble to the ground and thousands die
How fires, floods and storms came and thousands ran ;while
hundreds were killed
Oh say did you feel.
Now I can vote for whose running or
even enter into the contest myself
There has been healing in the land,
there is truly a united stand
From the wounds of slavery to
the election of a BLACK MAN
O say did you heal.
From slaves first steps onto
Caroline's southern shore,
Until their descendant taking charge in
the White House
Those people who give all they've got, to keep this nation going forward,
those who will make a change, those willing
to give their lives.
These people.
They have not perished from the earth.
Oh say can you see.
